New IITs vs Old NITs what to choose??

Hi, I am Yash Bhusare. Currently, I am pursuing four-year program (2016-2020) of Engineering Physics at IIT Madras. I have seen many students in a dilemma, which is better, new IITs or old NITs. Here in this blog, I would like to share some information with you so that you can take good and inform decisions.
let's see first which ones are old IITs (In no particular order Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Guwahati, Roorkee). I will only consider NIT Trichy and Warangal as old NITs for this blog. And two types of new IITs, ones which are established after 2008 (Let's call them type A ( Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Indore, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Ropar, and Mandi, Varanasi,)) and ones which are established after 2015 (type B). One can always choose old NITs over type B, As NITs are more established than type B IITs. (only choose type B IITs over NIT (T&W) if you want IIT tag which will not be of any use as every industry and university knows the difference between IIT Madras & Goa. This tag will only satisfy your relative's ego.) Let's compare type A IITs with NIT (T&W).
MHRD Rank - Rank system can be misleading so don’t blindly believe them, and don’t choose a college just based on MHRD rank. Let's say college A gets 9th rank and college B gets 15th rank, there can be a case where the branch of your choice is better in college B than in college A. Rank is based on various factors like trees to campus area ratio, attendance, accessibility for disabled people, etc. Some of the factors may be not relevant for you, and that can be the reason college A gets a better rank than college B.
INFRASTRUCTURE - None of the type A IITs has their campus fully equipped and ready. Some of them just (2016-17) got their hostel in the college campus, until then they were living in the temporary hostel (They provided a bus for traveling from hostel to college). Old NITs (T&W) have fully established campus. So do check the infrastructure of type A IITs that you are considering. But one thing I would like to add is whenever campus of type A IITs will be ready ( duration can be different for different IIT) their Infrastructure will be more advanced than NITs and even some old IITs. But for now, NITs have better (in term of quantity) infrastructure than type A
PLACEMENT- Well this can be very misleading, DON’T ever compare percentage of the student placed and highest package offered in college. Things are very different for a different branch, so talk to the people from placement cell of respective college to get more information about average package and companies (You can contact them on Facebook). Both IITs and NITs will have best companies for recruitment (but keep in mind that if Google/Microsoft comes in some college that doesn’t mean that they are going to take the student from that college if they don’t find the suitable candidate they won't take any). If you are planning to do a job after B.Tech then you will get better opportunities in NIT (T&W) as compared to type A IITs at least for coming  2-3 batches. As NITs have huge alumina support than type A IITs. Here I would like to add one more thing that most of the core companies don’t offer the high package as compared to non-core.
BRANCH - If you are interested in pure science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) then without any doubt go for IISERs (Pune, Kolkata ) instead of NITs and new IITs. If you want to do research( In you branch) or if you want to go for PG then I think IITs will have better hand over NITs as IITs have very strict standards for faculty recruitment. And syllabus covered in IITs have much more depth as compared to NITs. And if you are interested in placement then I will say except (IIT I, BHU, H, G), you can prefer NITs (for the top branch, in term of ranking). (Last line is my opinion need not be same for you I can be little biased here but I have given you right information for choosing)
LOCATION - While choosing between two colleges keep in mind, college location, If it is in your state then it will help you in very few things- 1) you can go home for 3 days holiday.  2) Cultural actives will be slightly towards your state.  3) You can go out anytime and can talk to the shopkeeper in your mother tongue  4) slightly very very slightly, you will get along with your senior's little bit quicker as no. of students from your state will be more. ( This won't affect you if you are a person who can get along with anyone quickly.) 5)If you choose college within your state then you can easily get your favorite food. These points (3rd, 4th, and 5th) should not have much weight in your decision-making process, but I guess it is worth mentioning.
Consider each and every point mentioned in this blog before taking admission. No one can tell you which is right college for you except yourself. Talk to the student from college (which you are considering) And then decided. If you have any doubt you can ask in the comments section.
Very soon I am going to write a blog on Factors you should consider before joining any college. So stay tuned.
If you like this contain do share.
Best of Luck !!
Cheers!!

IITs and IISERs

Let me introduce myself, I am Yash Bhusare. Currently I am perceiving four years program (2016-2020) of Engineering Physics at IIT Madras. Recently I came across many students going through a dilemma, which is better, IIT’s or IISER. There are many myths about IITs and IISER, some consider that IITs outclass IISER which is not the case (even true in some aspects). Here in this blog I would like to put-up the true scenario. This blog mostly takes into account the students who are confused whether to opt for EP/BS/MS courses from IITs and BS/MS courses from IISER.    Both these institutes come from a very different background and thus there is no point in comparing the two. One comes from research background while the other brings technical education and a quite popular image with it.    On a first note I would suggest that if you are getting IISc and you are keen in Research and higher studies, then without a second thought you should go for it. II...

Engineering physics

Hi I am YASH BHUSARE , Engineering Physics student from IIT-M.In this blog I my going to tell you about the branch Engineering Physics and what you can expect from it. Although it covers many things about branch , but whatever I am going to write will be true for IIT-M . But it is worth of reading if you are planning for engineering physics .   Syllabus : EP   department at IIT-M is collaborated with electrical department .(here electrical may misguide you as electrical is electronics + electrical at IIT-M ) .You are introduced to physics courses like Quantum Mechanics , electrodynamics , solid state physics , statistical physics ,etc . Maths is the language of physics so in each semester you have courses from maths and some electrical department courses .and also EP lab etc. Here are the syllabus of EP at IIT-M , IIT-B , IIT-D , IIT-Guwahati . You can also have a look at what wik...

About IIT Madras

IIT-Madras     Hello, everyone, I am Yash Bhusare, student of IIT-Madras. I am starting a new series of blogs where you can find photos and information of some of the IITs. Information like Hostel, Mess, classrooms, etc Classrooms -  In your first year, you will have to share classrooms with a different branch because the first-year syllabus is almost same for the whole institute. First year’s typical room will look like this.                                                                                                            Hostel - In your first year, you will need to share your room with someone. Don't get scared of him/her (My roommate is one of my best friend). I wil...
